Haynesworth gentlemanly checking Brady after a play.
The Redskins have traded Albert Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 2013 5th round pick. This is clearly a low-to-no risk move for the Patriots. Worst case scenario, they get rid of him if he doesn't perform and they lose a mid round draft pick. Highly possible scenario, they motivate Haynesworth in the same way they've motivated previous players like Corey Dillon and Randy Moss, both of who were castaways due to attitude-related issues.
Honestly, who can question the motivational skills of a man who goes home to this?
I mean look at it this way, he came to the Redskins, which in itself was FAR from a stable environment, and was forced to play nose-tackle. This is NOT in the best interest of his skill-set. He works best playing a 1-gap defense where his job is to make penetration and stop the run, while on his way to get at the QB. This is exactly how the Patriots will most likely use him, in situations like nickel and dime packages and just let him bull rush the quarterback. Considering that the Patriots have had problems getting at the quarterback in recent years, it makes this acquisition THAT much more logical and attractive. Not to mention that the Patriots offense WILL put up points, so the Patriots will probably be playing a lot of pass-rushing defensive schemes, a big advantage for the effectiveness of Albert Haynesworth.
To be honest, while I'm typing this, I just started fantasizing about a defensive line that includes Vince Wilfork and Albert Haynesworth annnnddd HOLY CRAP THAT'S FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!! WOW!!!! On Sundays I'm going to go to my local butcher shop, ask for a whole cow, construct a viewing environment that includes a large open fire, a television and a keg, and I will feast on the cow directly from the spit and drink beer from a mighty goblet while my Patriots just rape and pillage other teams! <Editor's note :Sadly enough he might not be exaggerating about any of this. I wouldn't recommend anyone watch football with him for your own personal safety. ~ Stanley McMahon>
But that all depends on which Albert Haynesworth shows up. Will it be the scumbag that stomped on another player's head?
Will it be the Albert Haynesworth that laid on the ground while Michael Vick ran amock?
Either way, I think the Patriots win purely because they won't have to deal with THIS Albert Haynesworth...
At the end of the day, Belichick has proven that more often than not he knows what he is doing, and as fans we all reap the benefits. I drink the kool-aid, in Belichick I trust.
